CNC Lathes for Precision Machining
M.R.S. Machining specializes in creating precision cylindrical pieces with very specific requirements. Our state-of-the-art CNC lathe machines are capable of creating finished parts with multiple section diameters and smooth, finished surfaces.
M.R.S. Machining specializes in producing high quality finishes without grinding as much as possible. Mirror finishes are a result of the right equipment, the right tooling, all being run by experienced technicians supported by industry specialists.
What is Turning?
Turning is the machining operation that produces cylindrical parts. In its most basic form, it can be defined as the machining of an external surface:
- With the workpiece rotating,
- With a single-point cutting tool, and
- With the cutting tool parallel to the axis of the workpiece at a distance that removes the outer surface of the workpiece.
There are several variations of turning in the machining industry, including taper turning and contour turning, that work using these same principles with slight variations to achieve different finished parts. What Is Milling?
Milling is the process of cutting away material by feeding a work piece past a rotating multiple tooth cutter. The cutting action of the many teeth around the milling cutter provides a fast method of machining. The machined surface may be flat,angular, or curved. The surface may also be milled to any combination of shapes. The machine for holding the work piece, rotating the cutter, and feeding it is what’s known as the Milling machine.
What is it, a lathe or a mill? It's a Mazak Integrex, both lathe and mill. The combination allows both turning and milling of parts in a single setup, reducing handling and production time. Additionally, parts are more accurate because all of the operations can be completed in one setup.
The part shown to the right was machined from tubing in one setup, including turning, facing, boring, internal threads, engraving, and precision milled holes around the O.D.

With over 25 pieces of late-model, precision machinery, M.R.S Machining has the capability and capacity for high productivity in low to medium volume precision turned and machined parts. Maximizing that productivity helps keep your costs down while offering superior service and quality.
Our machinery is grouped in cells to maximize productivity and make the most of of our highly skilled operators. Cells generally consist of two or three machines with complementary capabilities.
This row of machines is actually two cells specializing in big-bore lathes and long center distance turning. The lathe on the left is performing a deep hole "gun drilling" operation in addition to turning the long outer diameter. When those operations are completed, the operator conveniently switches the part to the machine across the aisle, eliminating steps and keeping consecutive operations in sequence.
Inspection of parts during machining operations and between multiple setups helps reduce scrap and assure you of better parts. Visit our shop and you'll see neatly organized workspaces with all the tools needed for the current operation, without the clutter of unneeded tools.
Working this way in conjunction with our cell floorplan, critical inspections are performed after operations, but before the next process. This real-time inspection assures you of quality parts delivered on time, every time.
